About Us
It’s time for a little casual sophistication on Pico Boulevard.
So, in celebration of the beginning of our tenth year, we’re going to bring it to you. Welcome to Next Door by Josie, located, well, right next door to Josie Restaurant on Pico Boulevardbetween 24th and 25th streets. Here’s what you’ll find…
As you walk in the room, you’ll instantly experience a mix of style, comfort, and the unique design that made Josie Restaurant famous. On your left, you’ll see a long counter for eating and drinking, and, on your right, cozy couches and tables for intimate gatherings with friends. Add to that an artisan cheese and charcuterie bar, contemporary and industrial elements, and subtle light from a cork-filled wall, and you have an idea of the ambiance. It’s casual, yet sophisticated—the décor of Josie Restaurant has been described as “like your mother’s living room, if you were allowed to sit on the furniture.” Think of Next Door as the den.
But, what about the food? Next Door by Josie features some of the same great things as the original Josie—seasonal, Farmers’ Market-driven progressive American cuisine, attention to detail, and the same unparalleled creativity of Chef Josie Le Balch, all in a more casual and affordable format. On the menu, small plates and snacks share space with larger dishes ready for sharing. Imagine beer and bacon caramel corn, wild game chili, great sandwiches, the best roast chicken you ever had, platters of local cheeses and house-made charcuterie…and, don’t forget Jonna J. Jensen’s spectacular desserts. Are you hungry yet?
Thirsty, too, no doubt. There will be lots to drink ‘Next Door,’ from a full selection of both artisan and traditional spirits, craft beers, and over twenty wines-by-the-glass, to unique hand-crafted cocktails. Everything at the bar will echo the tradition of quality found in the food, including house-made bar garnishes and fresh-squeezed juices. Of course, a full selection of non-alcoholic beverages, loose teas, and coffee drinks will be available as well.
No, reservations will not be necessary, in fact, we won’t even take them. Don’t worry, though. Your favorite Josie will still be there on the corner. But, for something great every day and night of the week, why not stop by Next Door?
